I work in oil on canvas. My work lies between the figurative and the abstract. Colour and pattern are the foundation of each painting.

All my works have strong aesthetic characteristics of colour, rhythm and texture as well as a deeper personal meaning that cannot always be seen at first glance. I believe that art must have compelling reasons to exist; one reason might be to communicate specific ideas or emotions, but another, perhaps more important, is to provide a point of departure for the viewer’s own thoughts and feelings.

The symbolism in the paintings is deliberately ambiguous, so that you, the viewer can find your own meanings. Each response will be your own, therefore it will automatically be individual.
